Sonia's sports day

The next morning when Nik and Sonia woke up, Mum and Ali had gone back to the hospital again. This time it was because Ali had a high temperature. Sonia suddenly remembered that today was sports day at school. Now Mum wouldn’t be able to come. Sonia cried all the way to school.

When she got there the teacher was really nice and let her help give out the books. Sonia thought that Mrs Jakes knew how hard it was to have a poorly brother. That afternoon Sonia tried really hard at sports day. She got third prize in the egg and spoon race. Sonia felt very proud and knew that Mum and Dad would be when she told them later.
