Winter

By Kayleigh Rengger (17)

Winter has arrived,
Christmas is alive,
And the snowmen are re-born,
One sits on every lawn.

A blanket of snow,
Litters our roads,
And the cool, iced air,
We can only just bare.

The empty trees,
Without any leaves,
And the chilly winter nights,
No sun in sight.

The toasty warm fires,
Their smoke drifting higher,
And the bright full moon glows,
Through the condensed windows.

The occasional rain falls,
Soaking all pavements and walls,
And the sky is overtaken by clouds,
The wind gives a hustling sound.

Winter is the season we are in,
Hiding Autumn, Summer and Spring,
And hot water bottles are filled,
Covering up nasty chills.
