Evie Clarke

Eight year old Evie was diagnosed with a brain tumour in summer 2003 and died in July of the same year. She wrote poems while she was ill and throughout her illness her wish was that they should be printed and sold to raise money for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital. A book entitled Evie’s Poems was duly published after her death with proceeds going to the Hospital.

WIND

I have a naughty stomach
I’m sure that you’d agree
But really all I want
Is a kiss from you to me

I like getting the presents
I sometimes get nice food as well
It’s really not so bad
When feeling so unwell.

I JUST CAN’T STOP

When I start eating I just can’t stop
My Mum she says I’m going to pop
Before I come round you’d better shop for buns
You’d better shop for crisps
I really only want to eat
A diet of salt and fattening things
Of lamb chops, pork and chicken wings!

RAINBOW

Rainbow is a dolphin
Rainbow is her name
She lives up in Scotland
Jigsaw does the same
We haven’t had a meeting yet
But still she is my special pet
You see I have adopted her
So she belongs to me
Even when she swims out wild into the Scottish sea.
