Reflections on childhood cancer
A book of poems

Introduction

The idea for Reflections sprang from a meeting of the Editorial Board for Contact magazine. We were in the embarrassing position of having received a number of excellent poems from readers for inclusion in Contact but pressure on space was such that we were unable to foresee when they might be used. Rather than disappoint contributors we decided to compile a book of poems using the ones we had, and some that had already been printed in Contact, and an appeal was made for more contributions.

We think you will agree that the resulting anthology is moving, inspiring, touching, sad and often humorous – in short the emotions expressed are common to the path that patients and families take on the cancer journey. This is not surprising given the range of individuals who have contributed to this book and we extend our grateful thanks to all of them.
